Nike: Marty McFly's self-lacing shoes officially go on sale

The self-lacing shoes of protagonist Marty McFly, known from the film "Back to the Future 2", are on sale. Nike will release the so-called "Nike Hyper Adapt 1.0" in November in the USA. However, you need an appointment to buy it.

An invention from the 1989 film "Back to the Future 2" is now becoming a reality. Protagonist Marty McFly's self-lacing shoes are currently being produced by Nike. In November, they are to appear in stores in the USA under the name "Nike HyperAdapt 1.0". The special feature of the shoes are the attached shoelaces, which tighten by themselves. According to Nike, a sensor in the shoe detects when the heel of the foot touches the insole. The shoelaces are then automatically tightened using a motor.

The strength of the lacing can be changed with two attached buttons. According to the manufacturer, a full battery charge should last for almost two weeks. On October 21, 2015 - the day Marty McFly arrived in the future - Nike's self-lacing shoes were released for the first time. The first pair was presented to leading actor Michael J. Fox himself. There is no official purchase price for the upcoming HyperAdapt 1.0 from Nike yet. The boots will be available at select Nike stores in the US.
