Finally back in red. Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United and is sporting the new/old shirt.

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (36) presents himself in his new Manchester United jersey on Wednesday. "Good Morning, Reds," writes his club on Twitter for a photo of the kicker in the red club shirt.

Emotional return

The Portuguese footballer, who last played for Juventus Turin and played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, previously played for the British club ManUnited from 2003 to 2009. He explained how emotional this return is for himself on Tuesday on his Instagram account.

"Anyone who knows me knows my undying love for Manchester United. The years I've spent at this club have been absolutely fantastic and the journey we've traveled together is written in golden letters in the history of this great and amazing institution," he begins his passionate post.

"I can't describe how I feel when I see my return to Old Trafford being announced around the world. It's like a dream come true after all the times I've played against United had to play," said Ronaldo. But even as an opponent, he "always felt so much love and respect from the fans in the stands. That's 100 percent the stuff dreams are made of," enthuses the soccer star with shirt number 7.

Many firsts at Man Utd

That's not all, Cristiano Ronaldo also sums up the first times he associates with the club: "My first national championship, my first cup, my first call-up to the Portuguese National team, my first Champions League, my first Golden Boot and my first Ballon d'Or, they all came from this special bond between me and the Red Devils," he writes. "I'm back where I belong!"

He closes his post with "PS - Sir Alex, this is for you..." and is thus addressing long-time ManUnited coach Sir Alex Ferguson (79), with whom the kicker star has a particularly close bond had.
