New surgical concept for hallux valgus | dr Reinhard Schuh, May 18, 2021

The Hallufast® method by orthopedist Dr. Reinhard Schuh promises less pain and faster regeneration

Vienna (OTS) - Hallux valgus is one of the most common diseases of the forefoot. In the advanced stage, therapy is only possible with a foot operation. Conventional surgical methods are often associated with pain and a long regeneration process. The Viennese orthopedist Dr. Reinhard Schuh has developed a new surgical concept. His patented Hallufast® method enables patients to have a painless procedure and a quick return to everyday activities.

Roughly every tenth Austrian suffers from a hallux valgus foot deformity. Thus, hallux valgus is one of the most common malpositions of the forefoot ,” explains orthopedist and orthopedic surgeon OA Priv.Doz. dr Reinhard Schuh. Middle-aged women are particularly affected. The hallux valgus deformity causes the big toe to deviate from the outside of the foot. This creates an annoying elevation at the metatarsophalangeal joint. In addition to pressure points in the shoes, the misalignment often leads to pain in the entire forefoot. The disease is caused by a variety of factors. Tight shoes with high heels promote hallux valgus.

A permanent correction of the hallux valgus deformity is only possible through surgical procedures. Hallux valgus surgery has a bad reputation among patients due to outdated methods and often less careful follow-up treatment. Orthopedist and foot specialist Dr. Reinhard Schuh has been dealing with the continuous improvement and modernization of surgical procedures and their aftercare for more than ten years. With the Hallufast® method , he has now succeeded in revolutionizing hallux valgus surgery and giving affected patients a number of advantages. " With Hallufast®, I have developed an innovative surgical concept that is painless for the patients and enables them to quickly return to everyday activities, " says Dr. Schuh about his new treatment method.

What's new about the Hallufast® method by Dr. Reinhard Schuh?

The success factors of the new Hallufast® method are the use of the most modern surgical procedures and special rehabilitation measures. according to dr Schuh led the experience from more than 1000 forefoot operations and the knowledge from his scientific research to develop the Hallufast® method. This results in the following advantages for the patient:

" I was able to put weight on my foot immediately after the operation. After a few days I was even able to walk up and down stairs. Four weeks after the operation I was able to do everything 80 percent pain-free as before ," says patient Andrea Hoppel, 55 years old , Hallufast® surgery in December 2020.
