How important it is that women break their silence and seek support and help when experiencing violence can be clearly seen with a view to the numbers from the Corona year 2020.

To 25.November, the international day against violence on women, the network of violence in the science city of Darmstadt and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district creates the overview "Numbers, data, facts".

As in previous years, the crimes of domestic violence in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district can be seen in a clear increase (31.2 percent).50 women and 51 children found protection in the district's women's shelter in the course of 2020, another 56 women could not be accepted with their children.The advice centers in the Network Violence Protection of the Science City of Darmstadt and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district report that the seriousness of violence incidents in the course of pandemic.

This year the 10.Anniversary of the signing of the Council of Europe's Convention to prevent and combat violence against women and domestic violence, the Istanbul Convention, celebrated.The importance and implementation of the Istanbul Convention are therefore more important than ever in the days of corona pandemic.
