The Regens-Wagner-Foundation bid farewell to the long-time head of the center in Erlkam - and welcomed her successor to office. Tears flowed at the event in the parish church of St. Josef. But there was also reason to laugh: shoes amused the around 80 guests present.

Regens-Wagner-Foundation Erlkam: Ein Farewell with tears and laughter

Holzkirchen – The theme of "shoes" ran like a red thread through the farewell ceremony for Kathrin Seiler, who had managed the facility for the disabled in Erlkam for eleven years. No wonder, after all, the 41-year-old is known as a friend of good shoes. The spiritual director of Regens Wagner, Pastor Rainer Remmele, metaphorically adorned his speech on Thursday with shoes: "In every situation in life you need different shoes," he said. “As the general manager, you have to put a lot of shoes on again and again. Nevertheless, you should never stop going barefoot from time to time in order to remain sensitive and vulnerable.” The words he addressed to Seiler's successor, Stefan Glaser, caused laughter: “You applied for the shoes of the general manager. Don't put on the shoe that you have to put on Ms. Seiler's shoes."

As reported, Seiler is giving up her job for personal reasons - she is moving to another district and will lead a Caritas association there. The farewell in St. Josef was highly emotional. One resident burst into tears during her speech and said: "If the people there aren't so nice, come back!" Seiler's employees gave her a picture - a portrait of Seiler drawn in pencil. Her colleagues – the managers of Regens-Wagner facilities at other locations – also worked hard and sang: “Kathrin, you are leaving us now. Everything, everything will pass, no shouting will help!”

One of the speakers was the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Gerda Friedel. The provincial superior of the Dillinger Franciscan Sisters took the opportunity to demonstrate to the politicians present her important role in inclusion at the local level. Among others, Hausham's mayor Jens Zangenfeind (FWG) was present in his capacity as deputy district administrator. Referring to Remmele's speech, he remarked with a wink that he was glad to have put on new shoes today.

District Councilor Elisabeth Janner (Greens) thanked the outgoing Seiler for her commitment: "I experienced the colorful life in the houses of Regens Wagner and I am grateful for these living spaces, which were designed by Mrs. Seiler and her employees."

As reported, Stefan Glaser follows Seiler. Since 2010 he has been the department head of Regens Wagner's open aid in Miesbach. Seiler gave him a special gift: shoes with heels. "As an early warning system for residents," she explained. You have to know that the residents of the facility always recognized the approach of their director by the clicking of their shoes. In his speech, Glaser said: "With Regen's Wagner, people walk part of their way together. This piece is over for you, dear Kathrin. We wish you all the best in your new phase of life.”
