Red shoes stand for solidarity with women who have suffered violence.
According to lawyer Marcella Pirrone, violence against women is a problem for society as a whole. In order to solve it, you have to start at several points. Education is just as important as supporting the women who ask for help. What is not needed, however, are new laws. “There are tons of laws. There are international, national and local laws. No new laws are needed. That's what we've been saying as advocates for women's shelters for years. It's about applying the law. And there we are again with culture, with attitude. What is the attitude of all professionals when using it? Starting with the social, but above all, of course, with the armed forces and the courts. If women are still confronted with stereotypes and they are not believed, then every law will be misapplied and not taken seriously.” In Italy, a woman is killed every 72 hours. Two thirds of the perpetrators come from their own environment. The platform for single parents has declared the topic of 'stalking and violence' to be the theme of the year. The reason for this was, among other things, the murder of women in South Tyrol last year. With yesterday's conference in Kardaun, the platform wants to sensitize actors such as social institutions, schools, lawyers, doctors, but also politics to the issue of violence against women. The guest speaker was the psychotherapist Evelyn Lageder. She spoke about the most invisible form of violence, stalking. Often the mistakes are still being sought from the victims and the perpetrators are classified as sick, said Lageder. In most cases, this does not correspond to the facts
