Depressing fashion ads - cry, model

The big fashion houses advertise with ads that are terribly depressing. Why do the luxury brands actually want to drag us down like this?

Johanna Adorjan

The American series "Succession" shows in a brilliant way how infinitely depressing it is to be at the top. Life doesn't automatically make it great just because you own eight cars and a private jet. Isn't that good news? Interestingly, luxury brands have now begun to announce it too. And clearly visible: in their advertisements. As has been read, their business recovered surprisingly quickly after the first Covid shock in 2020. Some companies even reported higher sales in 2021 than before the pandemic, with the Chinese market in particular exploding. So the brands are doing well. So why does such misery hit you when you leaf through current magazines?
